Dua for travel

When: As the journey starts (the Prophet ﷺ said Allahu akbar three times first)

For parents & teachers

Teaching this dua

These words are from the Qur'an (43:13–14), and the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said them as he set off on his camel. Today our camel is a car seat or a plane, and the dua fits just as well: we could never have made this ride ourselves. Make it part of buckling up: seatbelts click, Allahu akbar three times together, then the dua. On long trips it is a good moment to talk about everything that has to work for a journey to happen, from the engine to the road to the weather.

By age: Ages 4–6: the first line. Ages 6 and up: all three lines.
