About this page

Three fluffy lambs huddle together on a sunny meadow. Our book remembers that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ looked after sheep when he was young. In a hadith he said that every prophet Allah sent was once a shepherd, and that he himself had tended sheep for the people of Mecca (Sahih al-Bukhari 2262). Looking after a flock takes patience, gentleness and care for the smallest and weakest, which makes this a lovely page for talking about those qualities with a little one.

Talk about it

  • A baby sheep is called a lamb. What do you think a shepherd does all day?
  • How can we look after someone smaller than us, like a little brother, sister or friend?

Color tips

Lambs don't have to be white! Try cream, pale gray or soft pastels, with a bright green meadow and a sunny yellow sky.
