About this page
A fluffy kitten and a smiling turtle sit side by side next to a clay water jug, two friends who could hardly be more different. Islam teaches kindness to every creature. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ told of a man who climbed down a well to bring water to a thirsty dog, and Allah forgave him for it. When asked whether there is reward in caring for animals, he answered that there is reward in kindness to every living being (Sahih al-Bukhari 2363). The water jug makes that story easy to share.
Talk about it
- How are the kitten and the turtle different? How are they the same?
- How can we be kind to animals, like birds or a neighbor's pet?
Color tips
An orange or gray striped kitten, a green turtle with a patterned shell, and a terracotta jug. Little ones can make every flower a different color.
