About this page

A tall hanging lantern, with a pointed dome and cut-out patterns, glows among the stars. Our book closes with this picture after the first revelation in the cave of Hira, when the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ came home shaken and his wife Khadijah comforted him. She reminded him of his kindness to family, guests and people in need, and told him that Allah would never let him down (Sahih al-Bukhari 3). The lantern stands for that light of comfort and guidance, and its shapes make a satisfying page for steady little hands.

Talk about it

  • When you feel worried or scared, who helps you feel better? How do they do it?
  • A lantern helps us see in the dark. What else gives us light?

Color tips

Gold or copper for the metal, with yellow and orange in the cut-out windows so it looks lit from inside. A dark blue sky makes it glow.
