Printed on the sheet: This golden dome sits within the blessed Al-Aqsa compound. Color it gold!
The Dome of the Rock was completed in about 691 CE, which makes it one of the oldest Islamic buildings still standing. It has eight sides, an octagon, decorated with tiles, and a golden dome that can be seen from all over Jerusalem. It stands within the blessed Al-Aqsa compound, over the rock that Muslims traditionally link with the Prophet's ﷺ Night Journey (Qur'an 17:1). Many children think this is the Al-Aqsa Mosque itself. In fact, that is the gray-domed Qibli Mosque on the next page, and both sit inside the same compound.
Gold or yellow for the dome, then deep blues and turquoise for the tile patterns. Dark green cypress trees frame it nicely.
