Dua for parents

When: Any time, especially after salah or at bedtime

For parents & teachers

Teaching this dua

Allah Himself teaches this dua in the Qur'an, right after telling us to be kind and gentle with our parents. It is touching to hear a child say it, so let them hear you say it for your own parents first: "Rabbir-hamhuma" for Granny and Grandpa. Talk about all the ways parents care for a baby, from feeding and rocking to walking them up and down at night. Then ask your child what they remember being looked after for.

By age: Ages 3–5: "Rabbir-hamhuma". Ages 5 and up: the whole dua.
