A catchy mealtime song about saying Bismillah, “in the name of Allah”, before eating. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught a boy at his table to say Bismillah, eat with his right hand and eat from what was in front of him (Sahih al-Bukhari 5376). If someone forgets at the start, they can say Bismillahi awwalahu wa akhirahu, “in the name of Allah at its beginning and its end” (Sunan Abu Dawud 3767). Play it before lunch for a week and you will hear it hummed at the table.

Try this

• Sing it while setting the table, so Bismillah comes before the first bite.
• Pair it with Alhamdulillah after the meal, and praise the first time your child remembers without a reminder.
